In days past, it has been very popular for bipeds to see this beautiful country by foot or by pedal. We strongly urge you to reconsider doing either one of these for your safety. With now over 2 million visitors a year, and a population of only 330 thousand, increased traffic patterns and congestion make it increasingly difficult to “Share the Road”. Most of our road network is only two lanes, with very limited areas for drivers to pull over or pass. Additionally, the weather is highly variable in Iceland with possible precipitation and strong winds. Iceland is frequently ranked the safest country in the world. Please help us keep it this way, and to help us keep you safe.
